Muon Front-end Working Group

BENE is a Networking Activity (N3) in the framework of CARE (Coordinated Accelerator R&D in Europe).

Main Objectives

This working group is part of the BENE NA. It's aim is to coordinate the activities in Europe on the front-end of a Neutrino Factory and liase with similar groups in Japan and the US pursuing similar work.

The objectives are to:

• identify the community in Europe interested in front-end studies;
• form a network within this community;
• establish links with equivalent networks in Japan and the US;
• propose a programme of study for a bid to an EC Design Study;
• on an international basis, assess the different options for a front-end, including no cooling;
• include the results from MICE and other front-end experiments;
• determine the optimum front-end;
• identify and propose the necessary R&D efforts to achieve these goals.

Mufront Meetings

Muon front-end meetings take place in conjunction with both BENE and European Neutrino Group meetings. In addition, separate Mufront and combined Mufront and other WP workshops are planned.
