Cafe neutrino meeting minutes (04/26/10)
Present: E. Benedetto, F. Dufour, R. Garoby, C. Hansen, M. Martini, G. Prior, P. Valko, S. Vij, E. Wildner
Agenda:
Summary of worskshop on neutrino detector studies (A. Blondel):
Postponed for next cafe-neutrino meeting.
Summary of IDS-NF workshop (G. Prior): (.pdf)
Proposal for an ECFA neutrino panel was also mentioned at the EUCARD/NEU2012 meeting (slide 5). Lower threshold for MIND, TASD less advanced simulation, issue is the magnetic field but see Alan Bross slides last day of the workshop (slide 9). Proton driver, no slide of the CERN SPL presented at this meeting but still in the current baseline for possible proton driver. The muon collider is not an upgrade of the existing neutrino-factory but a different accelerator, share the technical challenge and can share the cooling section of the NF system, see FNAL layout (slide 16). Lot of simulations for the particle production from different generators not necessarily converging, see plots from P. Soler for e.g different generators used in Geant4 (slide 17).
Summary of EUCARD/NEU2012 meeting (A. Blondel/V. Palladino):
Postponed for next cafe-neutrino meeting.
Presentation of the SPC panel conclusions but not very encouraging.
Several interesting presentations related to CLIC & LHC (crab cavities...).
Remarks/suggestions on the structure of the cafe-neutrino meetings
Keep slides and presentation as base for discussions. Keep one presentation per meeting or less than a 2 hours meeting. More/new people are welcome to join. Presentation from people working in neutrino physics on different projects also welcome.
Next meeting:
