Present: E. Benedetto, A. Blondel, F. Dufour, I. Efthymiopoulos, C. Hansen, H. Kirk, M. Martini, G. Prior
Agenda:
Impressions of the EUROnu meeting:
University of Geneva is member of the Gouverning Board but Alain was not informed. Information and usability of the EUROnu web page not good. Impossible to post things, cannot find Gouverning Board members or people name...From the IAP, it seems that there is no collaborative approach, not so much a role of coordination. Need to help people when problems. For instance a lot of young physicists are re-doing work previously done and do not have the support of more senior people. The summary talks presented at the end should have been at the beginning and in the meeting the problems should have been discussed and solutions identified. Need to be better coordinated. At the IDS-NF level there is some coordination. Also EC neutrino physicists should be identified as an entity. Report of the IAP not on the web yet. To do the cost we need engineers, even this workshop was dominated by physicists. NF: Push to freeze the baseline. Rest is option and not baseline. Make sure people use the list of parameters. Need a prioritized list and possible subjects to work on where people could identify themselves. EUROnu report is not ready yet. Costing is a very heavy task, need to match criteria. In the CERN mid-term plan (MTP), three things were identified, upgrade of energy (HELHC) and luminosity (HLLHC) LHC, energy frontier machines and European physics toward neutrinos. In 2012/2013 there will be a Strategy Study. The RDR should come before that and be ready for the Strategy Study. EUROnu annual review in September. Will be reviewed by EC, ECFA...2013 is probably a good date for the laboratory to decide what should be the next machine.
RF R&D experiment:
List of possible tests at the following location (username & password are the one of the M1 magnet pictures, ask Gersende if not remembering it). Regarding poswer unit, for MICE there is two 4 MW units, one should be enough. May want to discuss in a NFMCC meeting. RF power should be ready by the end of the year. MICE cavity with vaccuum vessel dimensions ? Need to check if waveguide and power are compatible/suffering the magnet presence. Ripple from the magnet ? A spanish institute was interested in contributing (ask J. Pozimski the name). Does the RF group want to have a RF cavity test facility ? Are we interested to have a cavity tested at CERN ?
