Gave the talk "Pion Capture in the Neutrino Factory" to the IN-MEF section meeting last tuesday.
Ilias was very interested with some results so Ole should show this to the BNL (Harold) people.
Ole tested some different taperings and with different number solenoids, which gave better results.
Now Maintaining the EUcard homepage, using Sharepoint.

Since the nonlinear bunch matching is now implemented in HEADTAIL,
the SPS injection could be investigated for Collective Effects.
It seems that due to Transversla Broad Band Resonance Impedance SPS
can only allowed a factor 2-3 less than needed for "nominal" neutrino flux.
Injection (capture and merging) simulation for DR with gamma = 350.
Current achieved capture efficiency is 72%.

Documenting what was disscused in the Japanese FFG. Discussed with M. Aiba that
are sure the iCool is the right code to use. He had done successfull benchmarks.
And he suggests it should be used for simulating Beta Beam ions inside the Erit
FFAG ring (for less than 10k turns). The only problems is that Beta Beam ions are
not implemented in iCool. Will have to be implemented or discusse with Rick Fernow
Thierry Stora gave the lattice for the TSR ring that Gianmaria will work on.
Possible experiments with Erit could demonstrate if cooling works. But cannot use deuterium so have to use protons.
Another possible experiment with TSR will study if production rate works a target, could maybe measure the 8Li and 8B production rate.

First meetings of the NUFACT2011 organization committee has been done.
No minutes, but some works has been pointed out.
First day, Monday 1st of August, will be at CERN will welcome drink and poster session.
Then many days in Geneva, and Friday afternoon and Saturday back at CERN.
Gersende will help Ken for the references of the Neutrino Factory IDR. Turned out to be a huge workload.
Also running the newest version of MARS, version M1510. (M1509 was never given.)
Trying to sort out the input parameters (difficult since MARS is a "Black Box").
Still have too low proton energy pion yield compare to HARP data.
MARS is used since the target description was first written in MARS.
