BUNCHER
The drift channel is followed by a buncher section that uses RF cavities to form
the muon beam into a train of bunches and a phase-energy rotating section that
decelerates the leading high-energy bunches and accelerates the late low
energy bunches, so that each bunch has the same mean energy. The baseline
design delivers a bunch train that is less than 80 m long. This is an improvement
over the version of the design developed for the ISS which delivered a 120 m
long bunch train containing the same number of muons.
